After over a year of preparing my own website, I'm finally here. Still barebones, but a place to share
my photos and thoughts without the anxiety over the metrics.
Having my own website was a long time 'fantasy' for me. On one side I always dreamt having one, growing up with the flash swf-plastered websites that made me spend hours just by clicking on things. On the other, it felt like something far from me, having barely any idea about 'coding' at all and only ending with "hello world" stuff whenever I tried to learn one.
From last year I decided to finally take a step in making my own website, after the death of beloved Cohost and trying to stick with Bluesky which has been fun in certain regards but still have been consuming me in 'social media anxiety', where I couldn't help craving for attention and having my moods sway like a rollercoaster daily. I wanted to have a place where I can display my works without such anxiety.
It took me a year, as my first steps involved copying the html website templates, which eventually felt like I was only making a copy and not my website. After months of giving up again, I decided to follow the guides and templates from neocities websites, and help from my discord and cohost friends, which was not only more greatly satisfying but also made me finally feel confident enough to open and share my site link.
I feel this place might feel little too vacant (let alone still not perfect with 'mobile resolutions). But it feels nice to have a place where I can display my works without anxiety. I want to have this place to share my photos more personally, and provide the original resolution without the hydraulic compression (and resizing) of most social media sites. I hope at here, I get to be more honest and personal, and more original in what I do, think, and share.
